It seems to be sod’s law recently that the weather is only glorious when I’m at work but I have today and tomorrow off and the forecast is beautiful. So I am doing a bit of sun worshipping in the garden listening to Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine. Be nice to get a bit of colour in me.
In less pleasant news I’ve got to wait a month to see the cardiologist at hospital. Hmph!
I’m starting to get used to these beta blockers but they’re making everything feel very s-l-o-w…
Been watching the Glastonbury coverage all night with Dad. We’ve always been close. Cut from the same fabric, but this week we’ve grown especially close with all the shit I’ve been going through. We both like the odd U2 song, mostly stuff from The Joshua Tree but we weren’t expecting massive things from St Bono et al but when the opening riff from The Streets Have No Name came on we simultaneously began to cry. Not long before my Nana died my dad bought that album and it always chokes him. Unfortunately this was a few years before I was born and I never had the chance to meet her. We had a good whinge. Feels good to let it all out. I don’t cry often enough. Was overwhelmed when they played With Or Without You for the encore too. The lads from Dublin really smashed it for us tonight. Wish I was back there…
Got to have my heart monitored over a 24 hour period which actually sounds pretty rad. So I’m guessing I have to wear some sort of box with electrodes about my person ha! Awaiting my summoning from the cardiac clinic at hospital for my echocardiogram and I am on a perscription of beta blockers that will hopefully slow my heart rate down.
No clear result from my blood test so got to have that done again in a few weeks to see if I do have an underactive thyroid. The only thing they’ve found is that my blood sugar levels are high.
Life is a buzz for me. Thankfully the Urban Outfitters sale starts today so Cat and I are going shopping. Sadly I’m £7.50 down from my perscription drugs :( FML
Stevie Nicks is on the radio in a minute, I love her. Ooh they’ve just put Sara on! <3
Can’t move my left arm and I can see all the purple veins in the crease of my elbow ewww! Wasn’t too bad to be fair, I’m good with injections but the thought of it in the middle of my arm rather than the upper bit freaked me out but it didnae hurt. Fucking does now though! Feels heavy. She took three bottles too, didn’t even notice.
ECG scan was probably the most undignified thing ever, had to get my tits out so she could electrode them. Turns out my bpm is 120. A normal rate is between 50 and 100…shit. But Sam says I am a hummingbird and that makes it all sound quite pleasant. Again was probably down to nerves but they’re gonna send my blood samples away as ‘urgent’ and I’ve got to go to the hospital for an echocardiogram. Woo.
Going to get my hair done in about half an hour. Don’t particularly like the experience. I’ve got to stare at myself in the mirror under unflattering harsh light for a good hour and a half and make small talk to women I have nothing in common with. But I really need these hideous dead ratty rat tails cutting out and shaping. Probably get some extensions at some point.
Looking Forward To Tomorrow Like A Hole In The Head
Gonna treat myself by booking to get my rib piece finished after my blood test and ECG scan. You’d think I actually enjoy pain. Might see if anywhere in town will cut my hair seeing as those in Cheadle are shut on Mondays. Fucking part-timers.
Went to le Doctor’s to see if my blood pressure was down. It is. However my heart rate is ‘rapid’ so I’ve got to go back for blood tests and an ECG scan.
I get super nervous when I go to doctors, dentists or hospitals even if it’s not for me so my heart was literally pounding through my chest and I couldn’t calm it down so hopefully it’s just down to that. Might just be nothing but she said that it’d be better to look into it and have it be nothing than to overlook it. She made me do a Chlamydia test while I was there too ¬¬ apparently all under 25s are to do it…bet it’s a lie and she just thinks I sleep around. So that was embarrassing. To add insult to injury; I get the result by text.
Not looking forward to going back. Don’t mind needles in my upper arm but in the join of my elbow ewwwww. Gonna have some massive purple bruise after it.
Fingers crossed I’m ok. She said it could be that I have an overactive thyroid. Cosmic. But it was all good because Lauren took me for a Nandos and then we went Ram and Shackle for a few drinks and Alex joined us. Drank too many double Baileys because when I woke up for work the next day my belly hurt.
Work seemed to go mega fast yesterday. Spent the last few days watching Coza pelt passers by and Co Op staff with water bombs. Never gets old. Got Wayne (Co Op famous local celebrity…for all the wrong reasons) while he was chaining his bike up. Never laughed so much in ages! He drenched some kids and they had no idea where they’d come from! Brilliant fun.
Disclaimer; I do actually work. I had drawn up all the tattoo designs for the day and had nothing else to do so sometimes ya gotta find ways to entertain yourself.
So came home from work and quickly had tea and got ready. Had one of those NOTHINGLOOKSRIGHTMYHAIR’SASTATEIHATEEVERYITEMOFCLOTHINGIOWN nightmares but eventually decided on this cute white dress with blue bow print and met Andrew and Kat to go to the pub. Bought a round then Debbie came to meet us and we had a good catch up. An hour or so later Alex came and we drank some more then went to Lauren’s to get the taxi to town to go to South. Were gonna get a bus from Parrs Wood as usual but the driver said he’d take us to Deansgate for £15 so we couldn’t argue with that!
Had a top night at South, first time I’ve been. Clint Boon (of average at best Madchester band ; Inspiral Carpets and xfm fame) was djing. He’s a douche like, but he played some top tunes. Loads of 80’s and 90’s Manchester bands such as Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Joy Division alongside 90’s house. Later in the set I was over the moon to hear Primal Scream, Massive Attack and was overly stoked when he mixed in Organ Donor by DJ Shadow! Fucking brilliant! Lauren nearly shit the bed when Scooby Snacks by Fun Lovin’ Criminals came on. So much so I had to hold that pee and go dance with her. Was the most Mancunian crowd you’d see. Plenty of Gallagher fringes and Manc Swagger. Definitely going again. Shame the price of spirits were an absolute joke so I opted for £1.80 bottles of Carlsberg.
Got my blood pressure test tomorrow afternoon. They’re so unpleasant. Feel like my arm is going to explode. Hoping it will have significantly gone down :| don’t fancy being on as many pills as my dad. Nor do I fancy having a blood test. I don’t mind injections in the upper arm but there’s something hideously wrong with having a needle in the joint of your elbow. Ugh. Going shopping then Font for tea with Lauren afterwards so at least that’s something to look forward to.
Apparently it’s National Sex Day today? He’s in Ireland til Saturday so no love for me. Sob sob.
Going to give Nero’s Dubstep Symphony a listen from Monday night. S’alright so far, just sounds as if they’ve stretched out Me And You for 17 minutes and added a string section though. Too much of a hype about it. Not like it hasn’t been done before…
