Week’s trial as a tattoo apprentice starting Wednesday :)
SO chuffed. Although some chav on my facebook just posted a photo of a swallow he got done on his neck and after hanging out with tattooists for the last couple of days I’m noticing all the flaws in it :| really want to leave a comment about the wings not being joined properly or the head being jaunted…awkward.
After a bleach and a dye I am blonde. Going as white as my undercut in a few weeks when my hair’s over the initial shock of bleaching. Although it’s nailz. Hardly any breakage. Yeah, I am about to use the ‘F’ word in that photo.

May be on my way to becoming a tattoo apprentice :)
All depending on Monday when I take them some portrait and still life drawings. They liked my traditional portfolio and after spending 5 hours hanging out in the shop I’ve been told I’m pretty much in there. So pretty fucking stoked but Monday is what it’s all about.
This morning the postman was running in a rush, so much so that he bounced off a locked gate when he tried to shoulder it open. FAIL.
Refrained from laughing until I had passed him.
Nipped into Stockport before with Cat to get my quarter annual uniform. Half price Topshop clothes yaaay. So I have a nice playsuit to wear tomorrow night.
And it seems I can get into size 10 again. STOKED.
Then we had a catch up over lunch. Was lovely but wasn’t about paying £4.70 for a chicken, bacon and mayo sandwich.
Got on the bus home and these fat college chicks got on in Edgeley and sat behind me and talked about food. Ugh. One of them was eating a packet of proper stinky crisps and every time she began a sentence she licked the crumbs off her fingers and smacked her lips dead loud. Fucking rancid fat bitch.

Despite the absolutely horrendous rain, Lauren, Alex, Helen and I went out to James’ night; Chown Down presents Bok Bok at Joshua Brooks. Started off at Ram and Shackle with a few double Baileys and some indie band called Belle Vue who were actually pretty sweet. Stayed there for about 2 hours, had a key then went for the bus to Manchester.
Legged it in the rain from Oxford Road to Joshy B’s and continued to get fucked. Had a top night even though the left half of my body went numb. Although I welcomed it because everyone kept knocking into my tattoo which is still raw to the touch ha. Music was sweet as fuck, atmosphere was spot on and the drinks were cheap for once :)
Somehow bumped into Josh - an old mate who I’ve not seen for like a year outside on the way home and found ourselves smuggled into MSV to raid Scott’s flat. But he wasn’t home. Sad face. So I wrote him a note in eyeliner and shoved it through the letter box. Hope he finds it. Got a taxi home because we missed the last bus, stopped off in Fallowfield for some chicken then passed out in my bed.
If Bok Bok went well (which I think it totally did) then it’ll be a monthly thing. So fingers crossed if you like dnb, dubstep and dark electro.
what a mess.
Luckily Jess got me a free ticket for the NME Awards Tour after I tried to get one a week or so a go but it was sold out. Wasn’t sold out at all last night. But anyway.
Matty got the drinks in and we walked in just as The Vaccines were setting up. Heard about them for a few months now but they’re just breaking into the public view and are already tipped as ‘sound of 2011’ and saviours of Indie and all that shit. Played a pretty sweet set opening up with Wreakin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra) to get the crowd going. Current single Post Break Up Sex was what everyone seemed to be waiting for though.
Another pint then Everything Everything.
Saw them at Leeds Festival last year and thought they were pretty tight. I still have no idea what the front man is singing about most of the time. Especially Suffragette Suffragette where I’m pretty sure he’s saying “Who’s gonna sit on your face when I’m gone? Who’s gonna sit on your face when I’m not there?” in the chorus :’) so that’s what we sang, and continued to sing throughout the night and also the BAMAMMAMAMAMAMAMA in Schoolin’ and IWANNAKNOWOTHAPPENEDTOYERBOYFRIENDCOZHEWASLOOKINATMELIKEWOAHHHHHH!
Dunno. We’re mental.
Magnetic Man could’ve been better if I’m honest although when they walked on stage to Flying Into Tokyo, it created such a contrasting delicate atmosphere.
Seen em before and they tore it up but last night was mostly some man with dreadlocks telling us to shout MAN when he said MAGNETIC and not real input from Skreem, Benga or Artwork who just messed about with their Macbooks. Opened up with Fire and to be fair Miss Dynamite’s adopted Jamaican accent got the crowd skankin’ and they picked it up towards the end with Perfect Stranger. It was Getting Nowhere that did it for me though. Such a fabulous soulful contribution from John Legend.
Probably the strangest line up I’ve seen. Was odd to see 14 year old indie kids going mental for dubstep alongside Everything Everything and The Vaccines although I suppose NME does stand for New Musical Express and shouldn’t really have to limit itself to a genre. Certainly wasn’t about the dad swinging his arms about in front of me…
Was pretty excited to see Crystal Castles. Have been wanting to see them for years but always missed them but they delivered.
Despite the broken ankle, Alice Glass was on top form leaning on her crutch for support whilst she thrashed about screaming into her mic. Absolutely smashed it with Baptism, my favourite off the last album and had the crowd going aaaape shit.Sadly there was no appearance from Robert Smith for Not In Love. That would’ve been shit-the-bed-awesome. I have a feeling that it may happen at Bestival this Summer considering CC and The Cure are playing the same day…
I wish I was Alice Glass.
Tonight I’m embracing my duvet and hot chocolate. Quite rightly so.
Jade and I got our ink today. I went first. My Lord.
My other tattoos were strangely enjoyable to have done but they ain’t lying when they say that having your ribs/side done is one of the most painful places to be tattooed. Was the weirdest sensation. The lower middle sections made me giggle like when someone pokes you in the muffin top and you squeak like a guinea pig (if you’re as ticklish as me, if not, just humour me) and some areas near my back I didn’t feel at all. But the rest was pretty raw. The parts nearest my stomach were the worst. Mostly the edges of the scrolls. I felt really aware of my breathing (or lack of it) so my muscles were clenching and it felt like my skin was being torn from my ribs.
Which is nice.
So I was a bi polar mess laughing my head off and clawing the table in pain. Jade thought I was insane. I am. I screamed at one point and the receptionist came rushing in asking who’d shouted for him. How embarrassing. Pretty sure I didn’t scream BOB anyway…
So two hours later I’ve got this beaut:
Note: it’s not bent it’s my back arching because it’s hard to take a photo of yourself. Made a few changes to my original design with the mane and tail and moved the legs backward instead of outstretched.
Note also: the text is from an English 16th Century rhyme and the lyrics basically mean it’s useless to wish for something without actually working to achieve it. The whole rhyme is as follows;
"If wishes were horses
Beggars would ride
If turnips were watches
I would wear one by my side
And if ifs and ans were pots and pans
The tinker would never work!”
Going back for the colour in a few weeks. That’ll be fun.
A bottle of coke and two and a half double cheeseburgers later Jade was up.
She took it like a man. What a good girl. The majority of it is on her thigh so wasn’t too bad but it did bleed like a muthafucka. Probably because it’s near the femoral artery. She said the lily hurt the most, fair play it’s on her hip bone.
An hour or so later:
It’s pretty sweet having something you’ve drawn on your mate for the rest of their life. It’s very humbling. I’m really pleased with it. It’ll look beautiful when it’s healed and the shading has faded.
